This is an ever-expanding metaphysical market, thanks to cassette recordings and CD’s. Most everyone owns a cassette recorder or CD player today or can purchase one inexpensively. The average cassette tape in metaphysics today retails for $9.95. We will round out that figure to $10.00, as we are taking an average. Cassette duplicating companies vary considerably in their prices, but the average duplication cost for a cassette tape is about $2.00, when ordered in small quantities. That leaves a profit of $8.00 per tape, less the cost of advertising or promotion and mailing costs if sales are by mail order. You can figure that about half of your profit or $4.00 will go towards this, leaving you with $4.00 as an average profit per tape. If you sell through stores, you would generally give them 40% of the retail price. However, because of a larger volume through store sales, your cost of reproduction would drop to approximately $1.00 leaving you with a profit of $5.00 per tape. If you were to sell 100 tapes a week, you could expect to earn a weekly profit of about $500.00. Not much, agreed, but if you were to put out a series of tapes (let us say five), and all were selling 100 copies a week, that could net you a total of $2,500.00 a week. Again, our universities cannot guarantee this will happen, but it has been done by others

In recent years, CD sales have overtaken cassette tape sales. That is a very good thing because the profit margin is much higher. The average CD in the holistic metaphysical field today retails for about $16.00. Cost in fully packaged CD’s from duplicators generally run about $3.00 in small quantities. That leaves a $13.00 margin between cost and retail. Figure $3.00 per CD towards promotion leaves you with a $9.00 profit per CD. If you were to sell 100 CD’s per week, that would equal $900.00 per week. If you were to sell to stores, less 40% or $6.40 for their profit, you would be left with $8.60, less your cost of $3.00 leaves $5.60. If you had out 5 CD’s and they all sold 100 copies a week your profit would be $2,800 per week. No guarantee can be made as to how much you would earn—but the profit potential can be enormous .DVD’s and Videos can be produced in relatively small quantities including packaging from $3.00 to $5.00. The average DVD or Video in the Holistic New Thought Metaphysical field retails for $19.95 or $20.00 rounded. That leaves a margin of $15.00 to $18.00 if you are selling by yourself. Figure about $3.00 promotional cost per unit leaves you with $12.00 to $15.00 net per unit. Sales of only 50 weekly could net $600.00 to $900.00 weekly. Sales to stores offered at 40% off wholesale on $8.00 would still leave you with $7.00 to $9.00 each profit. The potential earnings from having just a few titles out in stores can be outstanding. 

METAPHYSICAL PERSONAL PROBLEM COUNSELING

One-to-one personal problem counseling is the most rewarding area of work for many metaphysicians, while at the same time, the least financially remunerative. It is suggested that graduates do no more than four hours of counseling a day as negative vibrations can begin to take effect. Psychiatrists, as an example, have the highest suicide rate of any professional group. It is one thing to hear another person’s problems occasionally, but very difficult to be doing it hour after hour, day in and day out.

The average charge by metaphysical counselors today is $50 per hour. Working four hours a day equals $200.00 per day or $1,000 per week based on a five-day week.

It should be noted that people do not generally beat down the door to see a metaphysical counselor. Consultations usually result from giving lectures and teaching classes. This is what our universities advise its doctoral degree graduates to do.

We have found that the average person seeking metaphysical counseling comes for an average of three consultations. A long-term series of consultations, such as in Psychiatry, is the exception rather than the rule in Metaphysics.

This means that if counseling work is your primary interest, you must continually be acquiring new people for your practice through lectures, seminars or church ministry, as previously stated.

PRACTITIONERS WORK (SPIRITUAL HEALING)

Years ago, Mary Baker Eddy conceived the idea of the metaphysical practitioner. Many metaphysical teachers and organizations have adopted this idea down through the years.

A metaphysical practitioner is generally a person who accepts requests for prayer treatment for physical, emotional and/or financial conditions needing improvement. Not all use prayer. Some use meditation and others use telepathic healing.

Most professional practitioners, who have been active for some time, generally take such requests over the telephone or by mail. Many have a standard weekly charge for giving treatments. That is, they agree to treat at least once daily for a week, or however long agreed upon, or until the condition is cleared up.

The average weekly charge today is $50.00. A well-established practitioner may be treating as many as 50 to 100 people weekly. In terms of income, such a practice could mean an income of $2,500.00 to $5,000.00 per week.

Practitioners usually establish their clientele by attending all metaphysical functions of the organization to which they belong, and/or by giving lectures or courses on Spiritual Healing, or through a church ministry.

The current holistic trend toward alternative medicine is increasing the demand for metaphysical practitioners, and should continue to do so for many years to come.

As stated previously, while our universities cannot guarantee how much you might expect to earn, we can definitely state that is your interest is more in healing, you probably have the best of all opportunities in the Metaphysical field today.

Your doctoral degree from the University of Metaphysics or University of Sedona would certainly be a help in the healing area, as most people psychologically associate the title “Doctor” with healing.

MAIL ORDER

The success over the years of such metaphysical mainstay organizations such as the Rosicrucians in San Jose, California, Astara, The Mayans, and others, offers proof that mail order can be a successful vehicle for communication of metaphysical knowledge. These organizations all have excellent material, of course, which is the true factor underlying their continued growth and success. There is room for more, however, as we currently see more and more new organizations operating along the same lines.

Mail order enterprises offering recordings, tape cassettes, CD’s, DVD’s, Videos and products such as pyramids, metaphysical jewelry, etc. have all done well in recent years.

Astrological Analysis, especially promoted through the use of computers, has been and continues to be enormously successful.

Obviously, whatever form of mail-order venture you may choose to go into could be greatly enhanced by your having doctoral degree recognition from the University of Metaphysics or the University of Sedona. We are not saying that it will assure your success in the metaphysical mail-order business, but it certainly will add to your chance of success, especially if you are a beginner or not well known in the Metaphysical field.
